Every mother deserves to feel safe, supported, and seen. At That Mama Rooted, I believe that awareness is a form of advocacy, and that informed mothers are empowered mothers. This page exists to share truth, shine light on disparities, and connect you with resources that can literally save lives. Whether you’re navigating your first pregnancy or healing from your fourth birth, you’re welcome here.

The Reality of Maternal & Infant Health in the U.S.

Even in today’s world, pregnancy and birth outcomes in the U.S. are not equal, for everyone. The statistics speak for themselves:

    •    The U.S. has one of the highest maternal mortality rates among developed countries.

    •    Black women are 3 to 4 times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes.

    •    Black and Indigenous babies are more than twice as likely to die before their first birthday.

    •    Many of these outcomes are preventable with timely support and respectful, informed care.
